THE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM
The school guidance and counseling program at Patrick Copeland Elementary is focused on the developmental needs of its students. Our program addresses the needs of all the students in the areas of social-personal development, academic preparedness and success, and career awareness.
Our guidance and counseling program consists of five major components that include, but are not limited to:
· Classroom guidance
· Individual counseling
· Group counseling
· Consultation with parents, teachers, and outside resources
· Coordination of school-wide guidance activities, such as Career Day, Character Education, Student Host Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters site-based mentoring program
MEET THE COUNSELOR
Our school counselor is Mrs. Dana Clemons. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education at Longwood University in 1992. She earned a Master of Education Degree at Virginia State University in 1998. Mrs. Clemons taught for several years in another school system before coming to Hopewell in 1999 as a 3rd grade teacher at Harry E. James Elementary School.
Mrs. Clemons has taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. In 2003, Mrs. Clemons joined the staff of Patrick Copeland Elementary School as the School Counselor.
